2018 Summer Intensive & Master Class

Join us for ten full days of dance and friendship! Want to meet other passionate performers or dance with a principal dancer, study with a ballet master or learn to play the castanets? Look no further than the NEWDO Summer Ballet Intensive. Classes include modern, ballet, pointe, variations and flamenco taught by industry professionals. We are proud of the changes, growth and friendships formed with dancers who have attended our past intensives. Come experience the hard work...and the fun!

Dameon Nagel is a Ballet Master with Carolina Ballet. Born in Canada, he received his training at the National Ballet School of Canada.  He danced with Cleveland San Jose Ballet before becoming a founding member of Carolina Ballet. Joining the company as an apprentice during its inaugural season, he rose to the position of Soloist. He performed in many of the company’s world premieres and notable roles include: Tudor’s The Man in Lilac Garden, Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco and Agon, Forsythe’s Steptext, Christopher Wheeldon’s  The American and Movement Poem I, and Richard’s Tanners Ancient Aires and Dances.  Dameon has also staged ballets in many other companies, including: Washington Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Ballet Hawaii, Colorado Ballet and in 2018 he will travel to Japan to stage Lynne Taylor-Corbetts The Little Mermaid.   Through Carolina Ballet, Dameon was honored to receive permission from the Balanchine Trust to stage Raymonda Variations and Prodigal Son.  In addition to working with professional ballet companies, Dameon works with numerous ballet schools in North Carolina teaching technique, pointe, variations, pas de deux and conditioning classes.

After many years in gymnastics and ice skating, Angie began her formal training as a dancer in Atlanta under former Stuttgart Ballet dancer, Brenda Roger. She went on to study with Atlanta Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Westport Ballet and then at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance founded by Ms. Tania Dokoudovska. At the Conservatory, she studied with Paula Webber, Leni Wylliams, Mary Pat Henry and Catherine Plavcan and in Flamenco with Tamara Carson. While in Kansas City, she danced with Tamara’s Flamenco company, Ole Dance of Spain. She also studied at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York City. She began her modern dance career as an apprentice with Deeply Rooted Productions before becoming a company member with Winifred Haun and Dancers. She went on to dance on many stages in Chicago and also became an ensemble member of The Flying Griffin Circus. She ran the circus arts program at The Chicago Waldorf School, and taught for the Emmy award winning Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago. She taught gymnastics, children’s movement, dance and circus arts for the Jeff Award winning The Actors Gymnasium in Evanston, IL. She was also the director of The Actors Gymnasium Circus and Performing Arts Camp in Chicago.

Randi Osetek was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was trained in Chicago, Illinois and Green Bay, Wisconsin before accepting a scholarship to study at the School of American Ballet in New York City.  Ms. Osetek completed her training with Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle where she performed regularly with the company.  Ms. Osetek has made guest appearances throughout the United States.  Ms. Osetek joined Carolina Ballet in 2002 as a member of the corps de ballet and was promoted to Soloist in 2008.  Ms. Osetek credits her love of dance to a few special teachers including Timothy Josephs and Jane Meredith at the Green Bay School of Dance, and Susan Pilarre and Suki Schorer at the School of American Ballet.  Ms. Osetek enjoys travel, the beach, everything Disney, designer shoes, and the Green Bay Packers.Type your paragraph here.
